Third Nine Weeks, Week 6

There are so many exciting events going on in the next couple of weeks!  Friday is the Owl-mazing Race, and we will pass out Valentine cards, and the following weekend is the Winter Festival!

Reading: Students have finished their biographies, which we will soon be writing about, and now we are on to a short unit on figurative language.

Read Aloud: We've left Frankie and Mike's story and are now reading about Ivy, a young girl living in California whose brother is fighting in World War II.

Language: This week, the students will be planning their expository essays about their heroes, explaining why that person is a hero.

Math: We will be moving on to adding fractions this week.

Science: We will talk a bit more about space exploration as we discuss Alabama's contribution.

Alabama History:  Just what does it take to become a state?  Why did Alabama's capital move so many times?  Who were the leaders of our state during those early days?  We've got lots of questions to answer this week!
